The entourage effect
The entourage effect in cannabis refers to the way multiple cannabinoids — such as CBD, THC, CBG and CBC — together with terpenes and flavonoids work in combination within the same product. Research suggests that when these compounds are kept together, they reinforce each other's beneficial properties and produce a noticeably better effect than when used in isolation.
The entourage effect underlines the importance of whole-plant products that use the full spectrum of compounds in the cannabis plant, rather than isolating single molecules.
For exactly this reason Canavita has chosen not to make isolate products, even though they are cheaper and easier to produce. We prioritise quality and effect over margins and mass production.
Legal CBD oil contains no more than 0.2% Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC, so it does not produce an intoxicating effect.
What is broad spectrum CBD?
Full spectrum CBD contains all of the cannabinoids, including the psychoactive compound THC. Broad spectrum differs from full spectrum in that it contains no traces of THC. All other flavonoids, terpenes and cannabinoids are still present.
What is CBD isolate?
CBD isolate is the most processed type of CBD product. The CBD molecule is isolated from the extracted hemp distillate, leaving pure white crystals. These crystals are usually blended into an MCT or hemp oil to create the finished isolate product. It is typically the cheapest option on the market — and also the least effective. For that reason, Canavita does not produce isolate oils or capsules.
Why choose full spectrum CBD?
A full spectrum product is for those who want the premium version: the best possible product available. Because it is more complex and expensive to produce, it usually costs slightly more than broad spectrum or isolate products. The research, however, supports that the best possible effect is achieved with a full spectrum product — so you get more value for your money.

CBD
CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of 113 cannabinoids in the hemp plant. It can be extracted in different ways — some producers use only the crystals from the flower, while others use the whole plant. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system and helps restore homeostasis, which is why it is being explored for a wide range of applications.
THC
THC is the psychoactive compound in the hemp plant. In recreational cannabis the goal is the highest possible THC level — typically between 70–90%. By law, CBD oils may contain no more than 0.2% THC, which also means you can safely drive while using CBD oil.
Terpenes
Terpenes are the compounds in the cannabis plant (and many other plants) that provide aroma and flavour. There is ongoing discussion about their therapeutic potential, much like the calming effect we associate with scents such as lavender in wellness settings.
Flavonoids
The cannabis plant contains around 20 different flavonoids. Flavonoids appear in many plants, fruits and vegetables. As with terpenes, their therapeutic effect is being studied — including evidence that cannabis flavonoids may have anti-inflammatory properties.
